Welcome to Rome!

I hope to meet you!

Laura Weinstein is an Emmy-nominated, National Geographic-trained documentary film producer

and writer who has been delighting in Rome’s every nook and cranny on and off since 1996

A Baltimore native, Northwestern University grad and long-time Smithsonian Resident Associate,

Laura has been studying ancient history, religion, art history and archaeology since she was 7 years old.  She made historical films her specialty over a 16-year career with National Geographic TV and Film, Discovery Channel, PBS and Time Life.

Laura’s intense research and writing about the revolutionary Italian painter Caravaggio also

gives her a valuable anchor on the Renaissance, Mannerist and Baroque periods.

Whether you know a lot about history and art, or absolutely nothing, Laura combines her exceptional storytelling skills with her boundless enthusiasm for Rome to make the myriad sites of the city even more enthralling and comprehensible than at first glance.  She will connect the dots of what you know,

what you faintly heard of and what you never really understood.

Tours can be geared to all religious backgrounds (I have given tours to both priests and rabbis!)

and all ages.   In Rome I have an amazing team of licensed guides and I also have fabulous licensed guides in Florence & Tuscany, Assisi & Umbria, Pompeii & Campania, Ravenna and Venice!
