In 2019, after over a dozen years working in documentaries and another dozen in tourism, I completed my Master's in Art History in Rome, spoke at a major archaeology conference in Switzerland, and had already been aspiring towards work in museum and/or university education, or perhaps producing a National Geographic/PBS-style documentary about my Master’s thesis.
So, once it settled in that the most reliable job in Italy was in the midst of being wiped out for the foreseeable future because of Covid19, it was natural to pivot to giving Zoom lectures, live from Rome. Visual storytelling - up my alley!
It was a fun way to maintain human connection and foster a love of history. People who have never been to Rome have been enjoying the lectures, but also folks who have already visited the sites with me or my team, adding new layers of knowledge or remembering neat stuff that they had forgotten.
I have given in-depth and interactive lectures for at the Naples National Archaeology Museum, for a major University in Aurangabad, India, for Smithsonian Associates, University of Baltimore, St. Stephen’s International High School in Rome, private groups such as Art Seminar and Pierians, church and synagogue groups, and weekly public groups about:
