If you ask me in which part of Rome to stay, the answer will always be near the
Pantheon. Campo dei Fiori, Largo Argentina, Piazza Navona are also very central.
I would only stay near Spanish Steps if you are into high-end shopping.
Driver services - For to/from Fiumicino (FCO) or the port, I usually advise to book through your hotel.
Or there is there is the Leonardo Express (though it’s not economically efficient for 4 or more people)

NOTE: Metro tickets are available in the station, but tickets for
busses and trams are not always available on the bus itself - ideally
you need to find a tobacco shop beforehand.
Look for the sign with a Blue or Black background and a white “T.”
Ask for “Biglietto ATAC, per favore.” 1.50E each.
You can use the tickets anytime during your stay, just validate them
when you get on the bus or tram. A single pass is good for 100
minutes riding around, or they also have 24, 48, 72-hour and one-week versions.
There are also electronic bus/metro tickets, now, finally!

The only tricky part is you must plug in the Italian version of the city name, so “Venezia” as opposed
to “Venice.” After that it is easy peasy
Your hotel will have a map of Rome at the front desk, take one and keep it with you at all times!
(also the business card of the hotel, for the easy way to tell taxis where to take you). :-)
